Paul Jackson was elected AFR Secretary/Treasurer in February 2013. He has been an AFR/OFU employee for 18 years and holds Property, Casualty, Health and Life insurance licenses. In his previous position as AFR Farm & Cooperative Programs Director, Jackson directed state and field activities for the cooperative, managed annual state conventions and adult and youth leadership activities, and conducted legislative fly-ins to Washington, D.C.
Prior to his work with AFR/OFU, Jackson worked in Washington, D.C., on rural development and agriculture policy/appropriations for an Oklahoma congressman. He has also served as Professional Programs Director for the National Rural Water Association, which represents and provides technical assistance to small water utilities.
Jackson serves on the boards of Love County Farmers Union, the Oklahoma Agricultural Leadership Program, the Oklahoma 4-H Foundation and the Midwest Shows Scholarship Program. He is a volunteer fireman and assistant pastor, an active volunteer in his community, and is a member of the Oklahoma Society of Association Executives.
Jackson has chaired the NFU National Policy Committee, served on the Oklahoma Comprehensive Water Planning Committee and the National Fire Ant Task Force, was appointed to the National Cattlemen's Beef Promotion and Research Board, and has testified before the U.S. Senate.
Jackson earned a bachelor's in agricultural communications from OSU and has completed Leadership Love County and the Oklahoma Agricultural Leadership Program. He is a fourth-generation farmer/rancher, currently has a cow-calf and stocker cattle operation, and previously grew wheat, rye, peanuts, hay and hogs. He and his wife, Kim, have two daughters, Courtney and Sarah.
